About the Role

The #1 reason organizations invest in an observability tool is to know when something is broken so they can fix it. This has been the case for over 25 years. The Responder team focuses on features that assist software engineers in the critical first ten minutes after they’ve been paged. Our users—software developers—need to troubleshoot issues that impact their own users. We build products that help them generate intelligent hypotheses about the problem, narrow down possibilities, and quickly confirm or refute these hypotheses. We are seeking experienced engineers who can craft intuitive, fast, and reliable user experiences empowering software engineers to diagnose and resolve incidents with confidence.

Responsibilities as a Full-Stack Engineer with a Front-End Focus:

  • Lead development of user experiences that surface critical insights at a glance, streamline troubleshooting, and reduce cognitive load during high-pressure situations.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to turn complex data into actionable, easy-to-understand visualizations and workflows.
  • Think beyond implementation—challenge assumptions, refine designs based on user feedback, and take ownership of delivering polished, effective user experiences.
  • Work with engineers across the organization to evolve the architecture powering our UIs and APIs (TypeScript, React, GraphQL).
  • Share accountability with UI-focused engineers across the company to build and maintain automated tests, tooling, and deployment infrastructure that improve efficiency.
  • Mentor your colleagues in engineering reliable, performant, high-quality user experiences through direct mentorship, program development, and engineering infrastructure improvements.

What You Will Achieve

  • In the first 3 months:
    • Build a deep understanding of Chronosphere’s tracing product and learn about the domain, our customer’s needs, the underlying technology and how we deliver changes.
    • Start to contribute changes to our product in a manner that enables you to learn quickly.
    • Build relationships by working closely with other engineers.
