Requirements

  • 1st Shift: Monday – Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (times may vary as needed)
  • Diesel Mechanic experience (six (6) months of Diesel Mechanic work experience or six (6) months of Diesel Mechanic Training from a Technical school; must be documented on application)
  • Six (6) months of continuous work history with one (1) employer within the last twenty-four (24) months
  • Must have basic tools
  • Able to work with minimal supervision
  • Able to understand written and verbal instructions, shop manuals, and other written documents
  • Basic computer skills for data input
  • Experience working with power hand tools, welder, cutting tools, test equipment, forklift, hand tools, hydraulic press, lift equipment, ladder, hydraulic hose crimper, drill press, torque wrenches up to 600 ft/lbs., and other equipment required to maintain and repair diesel trucks, trailers, and live production equipment
  • Able to work as part of a team
  • Willing to work weekends and holidays if necessary
  • Class A CDL preferred (not required)
  • Willing and able to perform physical requirements: stand, walk, bend, stoop, lift, climb, lie on back; lift up to 100 pounds with assistance; tolerate temperatures from cold/damp to hot/humid (with or without reasonable accommodation)
  • Rehire consideration: Max of two (2) previous Tyson employments; 180 days (6 months) waiting period

Responsibilities

  • Maintain all tractors, trailers, and live production equipment in operating condition: diagnose issues, adjust, repair, and perform routine maintenance while complying with DOT rules/regulations, maintaining safe work environment, and adhering to Tyson policies/procedures
  • Shuttle/transport tractor/trailers to/from grower farms and/or other Live Production facilities as needed
  • Maintain, diagnose, and repair any equipment necessary to assure continuous operations (with supervision)
  • Maintain support equipment, change trailer and tractor tires, and help layout/install new and rebuilt parts on equipment (with supervision)
  • Assemble or reassemble complex equipment requiring maintenance knowledge (with supervision)
  • Maintain clean work area and other shop areas
  • Wear proper PPE and follow proper safety practices/procedures
  • Perform all other duties assigned by supervisor
