Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent with completion of an apprenticeship program or vocational training in electrical technology
  • Master Electrician License NYC DOB (required certification)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in live Stage Theatre (Opera experience desirable)
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints and technical diagrams, as well as knowledge of electrical systems and safety protocols
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy equipment and working in confined spaces

Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, replace, and maintain electrical systems, including wiring, fixtures, equipment, building infrastructure, machinery, and lighting systems
  • Perform routine maintenance on electrical systems to ensure optimal performance and safety
  • Diagnose and repair electrical issues
  • Ensure appropriate response to operational emergencies and other unforeseen circumstances
  • Ensure all electrical work complies with local (NYC) and national safety codes and regulations
  • Conduct inspections of electrical equipment and its components
  • Maintain records and prepare reports
  • Respond to emergency situations and environmental compliance emergencies
