Role Overview

As a Lead Software Developer, you will lead critical software development projects that are integral to Xplore’s satellite operations and data platform, Major Tom. This position demands not only advanced technical skills but also visionary leadership to drive the strategic direction of our software architecture and implementation.

Responsibilities

• Architectural Leadership: Architect and refine robust, scalable systems for real-time satellite data processing and tasking, ensuring systems are future-proof and aligned with the latest technological advancements.
• Hands-On Technical Development:
  • Develop large-scale, resilient services for satellite tasking.
  • Implement automated data pipelines for image processing and customer order fulfillment.
  • Build a robust, searchable Spatio Temporal Asset Catalog (STAC) database.
• Design and Implement: Design and implement scalable architectures, optimize system performance, and ensure seamless integration of our software stack.
• Innovation and Research: Stay ahead of the curve by researching and implementing cutting-edge technologies that can be integrated into the existing tech stack.
• Mentorship and Team Leadership: Cultivate a culture of technical excellence and innovation within the team by mentoring junior developers and engineers, providing guidance and career development opportunities.

Requirements

• Availability: Availability to work In-Person 5 Days/week in the Xplore, Bellevue, WA office.
• Key Technologies:
  • AWS Expertise: Extensive demonstrated experience with AWS, particularly in leveraging its capabilities for high-throughput, real-time data services.
  • Confluent Cloud: Proficiency in Confluent Cloud.
  • Programming Languages: Proficient in Ruby on Rails, Node.js, and Rust.
  • Front-End Frameworks: Strong understanding of front-end frameworks like React.
• System Design: Demonstrated ability in designing and implementing complex software systems that are scalable, resilient, and maintainable.
• Experience: At least 7 years of software development experience, with 5+ years in a leadership role.
