Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related discipline (Master’s in Electrical Engineering preferred)
Minimum of eight (8) years in utility distribution/transmission engineering
Electrical engineering knowledge with a focus on substation project testing and commissioning
Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) commissioning and troubleshooting knowledge (SME and industry leader level, with ability to train others)
Valid CT/MA driver’s license
Responsibilities
Develop and implement plans and procedures for testing and commissioning highly complex transmission and distribution substation projects, with focus on safety and eliminating issues/errors
Commission substation equipment (e.g., breakers, transformers) and overall project commissioning including controls, systems, relays, metering
Work closely with Station Operations, Field Engineering, and Protection & Controls Engineering on project test and commissioning plans
Ensure complex substation projects (focus on BESS) are tested and commissioned per industry and Eversource standards, emphasizing safety and system reliability
Assist in developing standards and procedures for substation project test and commissioning
Collaborate with engineers within Engineering for consistency and teamwork
Perform root-cause analysis, develop and implement corrective actions for project commissioning
Manage, coach, develop, and review performance of engineers and other staff
Supervise, assign, prioritize, and direct work of other engineers and direct reports (administratively and/or functionally)
Optimize cost and performance of transmission/distribution system assets, including reliability analysis, trending of system events, and equipment condition monitoring
Coordinate evaluation of system failures and resolutions to support operations on unplanned maintenance
Share accountability in strategy, development, and design of the organization’s Life Cycle Plan
Develop and manage a preventive maintenance optimization program
Provide technical support and direction to operating areas on system priorities, engineering guidelines, and operating decisions (normal and emergency situations)
Work closely with Investment Planning on project justification and financial rationing
Evaluate and select technology and equipment for the system
Develop standards and procedures for design, operation, and maintenance
