Candidates must possess a Master's degree in Genetic Counseling or an equivalent degree and be board-certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling or the American Board of Medical Genetics. A minimum of two years of clinical and/or laboratory genetic counseling experience is required, along with the ability to obtain and maintain GC licensure in all states offering licensure. Renal, pediatric, and/or adult genetic experience are desired, as are multi-state licenses. Exceptional communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment are essential. Familiarity with Google and Microsoft suites is also necessary. The candidate must be located on the East Coast or able to accommodate EDT hours.
The Lab Genetic Counselor will serve as a clinical liaison, providing pre- and/or post-test genetic information sessions to patients via telephone. They will develop and maintain expertise in renal genetics related to Natera's Organ Health products and answer healthcare provider inquiries. Responsibilities include reviewing, finalizing, and calling out test results, and supporting the sales team by answering field questions. The role also involves assisting in the development of patient consents, GC protocols, SOPs, and patient education materials, as well as writing or collaborating on abstracts or papers. Additionally, the genetic counselor will represent the company at trade shows and medical conferences, delivering presentations at scientific meetings and company promotional events, with less than 10% travel. The employee must complete all required HIPAA/PHI privacy, General Policies and Procedure Compliance, and security training within the first 30 days of hire and perform other assigned duties.
