Requirements

Candidates should possess an MS, GC, or PhD degree in Cancer Genetics, Human Genetics, or Biological Sciences. Prior experience in a diagnostic laboratory, clinical report writing, and familiarity with human mutation databases, genome browsers, and HGVS nomenclature is preferred, with oncology experience being strongly preferred. Essential skills include utmost attention to detail, excellent communication and writing abilities, the capacity to accurately follow formal documentation and protocols, and the ability to work effectively both individually and in a group setting, with flexibility to adjust priorities as needed.

Responsibilities

The Variant Scientist will accurately classify somatic and germline variants for various NGS sequencing types, analyze clinical molecular data using in-house software tools, and interpret scientific literature to curate relevant findings. Responsibilities include summarizing genetic test results to generate high-quality clinical reports, performing critical quality control functions for molecular reports in compliance with quality management programs and standard operating procedures, and supporting improvements for current assays and processes. The role also involves curating variants, genes, and diseases for scientific and clinical relevance, and potentially training junior team members.
