Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as an Instrument Technician or Maintenance Analyzer Technician in refining, chemical, power industry, or related technical school training or military experience
  • Programmable logic control experience
  • Journeyman level qualified (preferred)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Successful completion of a skills assessment
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Ability to stand, walk, lift and carry up to 30 pounds, bend, stoop, twist, reach, stretch, push, pull, drag 50 yards, climb, balance, kneel, crawl, use hands and feet
  • Ability to work safely in adverse conditions with various PPE (e.g., fresh air mask), in confined spaces, at heights, with overtime and night shifts
  • Ability to pass and comply with continuous random drug and alcohol-testing program

Responsibilities

  • Installs, tests, calibrates, troubleshoots, and repairs field instruments including meters, transmitters, transducers, controllers, switches, solenoids, relays, control valves, regulators, actuators, positioners, and instrument loops
  • Services both electronic and pneumatic field instruments
  • Troubleshoots and repairs Distributed Control Systems (DCS), PLCs, vibration monitoring systems, and other specialty instruments
  • Performs maintenance per established written procedures using drawings, equipment manuals, procedures, and proper tools to troubleshoot and repair equipment
  • Documents work performed in test forms and condition reports
  • Marks up drawings for as-built revision by drafting based upon field inspection
  • Reads schematics, logic diagrams, loop diagrams, and P&IDs
  • Strokes valves and calibrates instrumentation per specifications
  • Uploads and downloads field instrumentation data and field analyzer data
  • Troubleshoots analyzer sample systems and calibrates analyzers per specifications
  • Reviews and re-writes procedures for instrumentation work
