Requirements

  • Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety, or similar
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar project based role post qualification
  • Demonstrated experience in a Civil/Rail Infrastructure project environment
  • Previous experience in incident investigation, ICAM experience highly desirable but not essential
  • A comprehensive knowledge of Victorian OHS legislation and processes, including competence in the implementation of OHS change initiatives

Responsibilities

  • Site based role required pre-start presence
  • Coordinate the health and safety systems within the project, including identifying hazards, assessing risk
  • Recommend appropriate safety controls to the construction team, and provide advice on incident prevention and occupational health to management and employees
  • Ensure the effective implementation of Safety Management Systems
  • Identify, review and analyse high-risk activities in conjunction with the appropriate personnel and recommend an approach to be taken
  • Actively ensure that subcontractors and suppliers are complying with legislative, client and the alliances work health and safety and environmental requirements
  • Be actively involved in the investigation and debrief of all Lost Time Injuries and critical incidents that occur on the project
  • Assist with the timely response to client-raised issues, taking the opportunity to build positive relationships with said client
  • Have a consistent presence at pre-start meetings
