The Opportunity

The Head of Reporting and Technical Accounting will be an integral part of the Finance team, reporting directly to the Chief Accounting Officer. This role will collaborate with Finance and Accounting leadership, as well as stakeholders in legal, acquisitions, and business line leads.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a high-performing team across regulatory reporting, financial reporting, M&A, and technical accounting.
  • Evaluate new US GAAP pronouncements and complex transactions; oversee technical research and disclosure review.
  • Build strong relationships with external auditors and accounting technical advisors.
  • Manage the preparation and distribution of internal and external financial statements and reports.
  • Manage SEC filings including 10-Ks, 10-Qs, 8-Ks, S-1s, and private placement memorandums.
  • Establish and maintain accounting policies in collaboration with broader finance teams.
  • Review financial statements for U.S. and international subsidiaries to ensure compliance and consistency.
  • Partner on drafting technical accounting memos and policies, ensuring clarity and alignment in implementation.
  • Develop and maintain the integrity of the financial reporting process and financial controls.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a closely related field.
  • Certification: Active CPA required with deep knowledge of US GAAP.
  • Experience:
    • 10+ years of accounting or audit experience.
    • At least 5 years in corporate SEC reporting and disclosure.
    • Background in financial services, fintech, banking, or exchanges.
    • Experience with complex financial instruments like derivatives.
    • Familiarity with regulatory and subsidiary-level reporting.
  • Skills:
    • Comfortable operating in ambiguity, with a pragmatic approach to accounting decisions and deal assessments.
    • Proficient with ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP, or NetSuite.
    • Workiva or similar reporting platforms is a plus.
    • Collaborative, innovative, and flexible, with strong cross-functional relationship-building skills.

Nice to Haves

  • Experience or knowledge of cryptocurrency.
  • Experience at a Big 4 or national accounting firm.
