About Verisign

Verisign helps enable the security, stability, and resiliency of the internet. We are a trusted provider of internet infrastructure services for the networked world and deliver unmatched performance in domain name system (DNS) services. We are a mission focused, values driven company where each individual can contribute to building a stronger, more secure internet. We offer a dynamic and flexible work environment with competitive benefits and the ability to grow your career.

Role Overview

We are looking for a software developer to join Verisign. The candidate will be involved in all aspects of product development including ideation, design, implementation, deployment, and issue resolution. This will usually imply cross-team collaboration with Product, Engineering, Security and Operations. The candidate is expected to provide technical contributions and work collaboratively with other team members.

Ideal Candidate Profile

An ideal candidate should be fluent in Java and have prior experience in full-stack software engineering. Exposure to additional languages and technologies (bash, python, docker, git, jenkins) are advantageous. From the engineering side, we seek a strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including core Computer Science concepts, as well as hands-on problem-solving experience building software systems. Obtaining required competencies often implies an equivalent of a bachelor’s degree, 5+ years of hands-on software development work experience.

Products

The team has complete engineering ownership of three customer-facing web applications:

  • Verisign Account Manager (VAC): A web application for account management of Verisign registrar customers.
  • Verisign Content Management System (VCMS): A custom content management platform consisting of a front-end for content creation and administration and a back-end exposing a set of API endpoints. These API endpoints are consumed by several other customer-facing portals offered by Verisign.
  • Customer Notification System (CNS): Enables creating automated maintenance notices about upcoming outages to Registry system which will be sent periodically to ICANN and our Registrar Customers.

The business logic layer of both VCMS and CNS applications is implemented with React, Java Spring Boot. VCMS and CNS relies on PostgreSQL for data persistence layer.

Team and Process

Our small team possesses complete engineering ownership over the three products. In terms of the process, we rely on Scrum to structure our work, with tickets prioritized in Jira. Our code is located on internal GitHub; we follow Git Flow with pull request code reviews and extensive automation. For continuous delivery, we use Jenkins with pipelines and our product deployments are automated with Terraform and Ansible. We do builds for each codebase change as well as nightly builds and have fully implemented Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment.

While fluent in Java, it is beneficial if the candidate has experience working with some of the mentioned tools. Others can be learned as needed.

  • 5+ years software development experience
