Candidates should possess an engineering degree, requiring a minimum of 5 years of experience in aerospace, preferably with UAS flight test engineering. They should demonstrate multi-talented capabilities across overall test operations, understanding of flight test development campaigns, and a willingness to lead the engineering team on requirements. A private pilot license or part 107 certification is preferred, along with experience utilizing mission planner and other GCS software.
The Flight Test Engineer will be responsible for central coordination of flight test operations, informing the engineering team on key requirements for systems checks and data systems. They will also drive the construction of test infrastructure at test sites, outfit test equipment, and conduct team-led testing workflows, including test planning, readiness reviews, dry runs, day-of-test execution, and post-test reviews. Furthermore, they will keep the product development team informed of all requirements, construct program flight test campaigns with system, GNC, and energetics engineers, and serve as a technical advisor on test operations, performing safety analysis and maintaining company safety policies. Additionally, the role involves coordinating and planning flight test demonstrations, and traveling to various test ranges, both domestically and potentially internationally.
