Basic Mechanic tools and toolbox (strongly preferred)
Must be able to demonstrate and obtain SpartanNash certification for the safe driving of material handling equipment, tractors, and trailers (required)
Heavy Duty Air Brake Certified (required)
DOT Inspector Certified (Required)
Journeyman Diesel Mechanic card (required) with 608 cert (required)
Ability to frequently sit, walk, stand, use hands to handle/grasp/twist objects/tools/controls, use both feet for repetitive movements, crouch, kneel, bend, stoop, twist, reach with hands and arms
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds with assistance as needed
Ability to work in warehouse environment with changes in temperature/humidity, moderate to high noise levels
Ability to work weekends, holidays, days/night hours, overtime, 8-10 hour shifts as assigned
Responsibilities
Inspect, diagnose, and perform preventive and corrective maintenance/repair of diesel semi trucks and trailers (including overhaul/repair of engines, transmissions, cooling systems, steering systems, air systems, trailer refrigeration systems)
Ensure compliance with company safety policies/procedures and legal regulations
Assist lesser experienced mechanics as necessary and help with shop business processes (billing, etc.)
Assess preventive maintenance schedule to ensure equipment maintenance is completed on schedule to avoid major repairs/equipment downtime
Meet with supervisor/lead to discuss work orders/priorities and proactively identify issues/conditions affecting equipment operation
Utilize maintenance systems for timely/accurate documentation of maintenance/repair work
Identify and order replacement parts, ensuring parts are correct/complete; may assist junior mechanics with parts ordering
Maintain current knowledge of regulations/laws (DOT, OSHA, EPA, etc.) for shop compliance
Prepare/complete DOT inspections + related paperwork accurately/timely
Effectively collaborate with other departments as appropriate
