Requirements

  • Hands-on technical leader experienced in building high-performing and psychologically-safe teams with diverse individuals
  • Ability to define and build ML strategy, sequencing bets that improve AI assistants and measurable user outcomes
  • Stay ahead of latest AI advancements (e.g., SFT, RL, GEPA) and translate them into strategic opportunities

  • Experience establishing techniques to train models that improve over time and personalize experiences
  • Ability to audit and evolve ML stack and infrastructure (Swift for on-device inference, Python for models/tooling; support for encoder/decoder models across client/server; scaling with fine-tuned open-source LLMs)
  • Knowledge of partnering on privacy, security, data stewardship, deployment strategies, and responsible scaling
  • Skills in building ML Developer Experience (tooling/workflows for data curation, experimentation like fine-tuning/RL/prompting, evals, continuous training)
  • Experience supporting and building talented teams of machine learning engineers, fostering technical and product mindset growth through fast iteration
  • Willingness to follow IC engineer onboarding pathway to learn product data and build processes before ramping into leadership

Responsibilities

  • Define and build ML strategy for Dia’s assistant, sequencing bets to improve product vision and user outcomes
  • Prototype, architect, and ship LLM-powered features; establish training techniques for improving/personalizing models; partner with Design and Product Engineering
  • Audit and evolve ML stack/infrastructure across client/server, scaling with fine-tuned open-source LLMs
  • Partner with Security and Infra on privacy/security, data stewardship, deployment, and responsible scaling
  • Establish ML Developer Experience: build tooling/workflows for data curation, experimentation (fine-tuning, RL, prompting), evals, and continuous training
  • Build, support, and grow a talented team of machine learning engineers technically and with product mindset via fast iteration
  • Work closely with team on product decisions, prioritization, shipping features, and promoting engineering culture of knowledge sharing/mentorship
