Candidates should possess an Electrical/Mechanical education or a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Occupational Safety, or a related field, along with 7+ years of experience in electrical safety roles, preferably in power generation or heavy industrial environments. In-depth knowledge of NFPA 70E, NEC, OSHA 1910/1926 standards, and relevant electrical safety codes is required, and professional certification in safety management (CSP, CHST, EM385) is preferred. Experience with medium and high voltage (480V-15kV and 138kV) utility systems and generation environments is also necessary.
The Electrical Safety Manager will lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of JSC’s site Electrical Safety Program in compliance with NFPA 70E, OSHA, NEC and JSC policies, acting as a Subject Matter Expert for electrical safety and providing technical guidance to operations, maintenance, contractors, and engineering teams. They will conduct job safety analyses (JSAs), participate in field walks, track safety statistics, provide daily reporting, and maintain a constant presence while work occurs in new and existing electrical equipment. The role involves overseeing electrical LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) program compliance, training, and verification, conducting periodic safety audits and inspections, ensuring appropriate electrical PPE is available and used, collaborating with JSC HSE in developing training courses, leading incident investigations, and maintaining accurate records and metrics on electrical safety performance and incidents. Furthermore, the Electrical Safety Manager will review utility procedures, provide feedback, and perform routing field walks and safety go-arounds to reinforce electrical safety expectations and identify at-risk conditions.
