Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years estimating experience within an industrial construction company
  • Experience estimating commercial and/or manufacturing facilities
  • Knowledge of construction practices and procedures for manufacturing plant construction
  • Record of successful project completion history
  • Ability to read and interpret construction specifications and drawings accurately
  • Proficiency in estimating and quantity take-offs (digital or conventional)
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and Procore; proficiency in Accubid is a plus
  • WinEst, Trimble, Sage, or other estimating programs, Revit, BIM experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of construction paving, underground, concrete, and grading practices
  • Expertise in construction methods and materials for new construction and tenant improvements/fit outs
  • Thorough understanding of commercial construction systems, means, and methods
  • Knowledge of Divisions in CSI MasterFormat and construction costs related to it
  • Understanding of trade responsibilities within the overall construction contract
  • Ability to perform conceptual estimates based on limited drawings and specifications
  • Ability to coordinate estimates with other building disciplines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong communication skills with Architects, Engineers, Subcontractors, and Construction Managers
  • Strong, energetic work ethic
  • Decisiveness in recognizing key factors for timely and accurate estimates
  • Must be a team player
  • Must possess a valid driver's license

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the engineering quantity take-off (e.g., power distribution, lighting, low-voltage) for projects with the Estimating department, highlighting important details like phasing and individual pricing quantities
  • Contact subcontractors and suppliers to request quotes for bidding projects
  • Utilize estimating system to create accurate budgets or bids; confer with field operations on project requirements, productions, job restrictions, staffing, competitive advantages, and subcontractor experience
  • Prepare accurate bidding documents with complete scopes of work
  • Produce professional proposal-level estimates ensuring scope of work, pricing, clarifications, and exclusions
  • Work with other design and engineering departments to ensure bid packages are submitted per company bidding process
  • Incorporate company safety policies and procedures into estimates to provide a safe, healthy work environment
  • Occasionally perform site visits
  • Support end-to-end electrical take-off and cost estimating
  • Coordinate with the rest of the estimation team
  • Support detailed production, evaluation, and verification of estimates for projects of varying size and scale
