  • Electrical engineering technologist diploma
  • Red Seal Journey Electrician preferred
  • 1-5 years working in an industrial manufacturing environment
  • Experience with electrical controls, transmitters, valves, drives, temperature measuring devices, programmable logic controllers, and automation software
  • Must be willing to work shift work (days and nights)
  • Strong communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Design, install, maintain, program, configure, and troubleshoot electrical machinery, controls, industrial automation, and data acquisition systems
  • Receive and/or prepare wiring diagrams, specifications, and instructions covering scheduled and emergency repairs, installation, and inspection work
  • Analyze all types of drawings and wiring diagrams to locate and install circuits and equipment, determine material or replacement needs, and select a logical approach to troubleshooting and repair problems
  • Plan details of working procedures to affect the most logical approach to the job
  • Plan and perform work requiring specification codes, properties of various materials, and principles of operation and application of equipment
  • Locate source of trouble of any type of electrical equipment by tracing and testing circuits and inspecting for faulty operation
  • Dismantle, inspect, repair, adjust, or replace faulty parts and wiring on motors, generators, power distribution and control panels, circuit breakers, rectifiers, electronic devices, etc
  • Replace coils, resistors, relays, rheostats, etc
  • Program/configure automation controllers such as PLCs, robotic controllers, variable frequency drives, DC drives, etc
