Requirements

  • At least 3+ years of experience in the music industry, journalism, programming/curating music for digital, radio, TV, or other media outlets
  • Real expertise of music and culture in GSA (Germany, Austria, Switzerland), with deep knowledge of music and artists from this region
  • Perfect level of written and spoken German and English
  • Broad expertise across all genres and styles, especially an expert in Pop, with ability to curate music for diverse moods and moments
  • Strong writing skills to effectively translate music and cultural insights into engaging content
  • Skilled in interpreting data and analytics to inform editorial decisions and optimize performance
  • Culturally aware, with ability to critically evaluate music trends, emerging movements, and audience behavior beyond just data
  • Knowledgeable of Google Suite tools, comfortable with basic design tools and workflows, capable of creating visual assets like playlist covers
  • Excellent communicator, capable of connecting with audiences through written, video, or audio commentary

Responsibilities

  • Be a culture guide and proactively identify music trends and opportunities for Spotify
  • Curate a set of cohesive, engaging playlists for GSA with compelling descriptions and commentary that resonate with audiences
  • Focus on the daily music programming and editorial strategy for GSA
  • Listen to music from a wide range of musical genres and identify appropriate additional programming opportunities
  • Analyze user behavior and performance data to optimize playlist engagement and make informed editorial decisions
  • Translate music and cultural knowledge into engaging, relevant content for Spotify users
  • Work cross-functionally with teams like marketing, design, and product to achieve strategic goals (e.g., consult on music insights for marketing campaigns or integrate cultural insights into other team’s workflows)
