Experience with columnar data formats and scalable storage architectures, such as data lakes and Redshift, is preferred. Familiarity with Nextflow or similar workflow languages for NGS or scientific data processing is a plus. Strong hands-on experience with AWS services, including Lambda, Batch, S3, and container orchestration, is required. Proficiency in Python and frameworks like FastAPI for API development is also beneficial.
The Discovery Data Team Lead Engineer will serve as a technical lead and data architect within the Discovery Data Team, championing the technical strategy and collaborating with cross-functional partners to drive the design of new data products and pipelines. They will lead a team of engineers to catalyze and execute on data initiatives in molecule discovery, building and scaling cloud-native infrastructure to support data ingestion, processing, and retrieval for molecule discovery and sequencing workflows. This includes developing workflows using Nextflow for NGS data processing, integrating data from lab instruments and ELNs, developing and maintaining APIs using FastAPI, and designing and implementing data pipelines using Airflow, PostgreSQL, Spark, and columnar storage formats. The role also involves deploying, monitoring, and optimizing infrastructure on AWS and working cross-functionally with bioinformaticians, data scientists, and lab informatics teams to enable seamless scientific data workflows.
