This is a remote role with regular visits to our engineering offices in Kunshan and Shenzhen, and occasional travel to Lime’s global offices and supplier sites.
You will manage a China-based team of hardware engineers, including Mechanical, Electrical, New Product Introduction, and Reliability Engineering.
Key responsibilities include managing the hardware engineering team, owning the hardware development process from concept to launch, providing technical oversight for suppliers, collaborating across teams, and staying current with new technologies.
You will collaborate closely with Lime’s Software Engineering teams in China, US-based Engineering teams (hardware and software), Product and Program Managers, Design, Ops, and Supply Chain teams.
Strong candidates should have expertise in hardware engineering across mechanical, electrical, power systems, electronics, and firmware, with experience managing teams, overseeing supplier relationships, and driving product development from concept to launch.
Provides shared electric bikes and scooters
Lime operates in the micromobility market, providing shared electric bikes and scooters for rent through a mobile app. Users can easily locate, unlock, and pay for these vehicles, making it a convenient option for short-distance travel. The company generates revenue primarily through ride fees, which include a base fee and a per-minute charge. Lime differentiates itself from competitors by focusing on sustainability and continuously upgrading its fleet, including the latest Gen4 electric scooters that enhance ride quality. Additionally, Lime is exploring partnerships with cities to integrate its services into public transportation networks and is piloting augmented reality technology to improve parking solutions. The goal of Lime is to create a future where transportation is shared, affordable, and carbon-free.
