Requirements

PhD or Master's in AI/ML, Computer Science, or Finance (with a background in Machine Learning), plus 5+ years of industrial experience
Deep understanding of GenAI, particularly how innovative LLMs can be induced to use explicitly supplied structured and unstructured information, their implicit world knowledge, and slow-thinking abilities to solve domain-specific problems (e.g., extraction, evaluation, comparison, or argument structure in investing domains)
Grasp of logic- and ML-based AI techniques for knowledge extraction, representation, and reasoning
Expertise in combining symbolic, logic-based representations (e.g., knowledge graphs, ontologies) with informal, text-based domain content to solve business problems
Understanding of how to deliver into production GenAI applications that reliably process information in open-ended settings (e.g., using LLMs from OpenAI, Google, Anthropic)
Track record of managing the "exploration vs exploitation" tradeoff to deliver innovative solutions for first-of-a-kind problems
Deep expertise in Python and data-centric AI (ML) techniques, particularly as applied to text, tables, and documents
Excellent knowledge of standard tools for machine learning engineers
Seasoned scientist with experience in applied technical groups conceiving, building, and delivering first-of-a-kind knowledge-based applications
Excellent collaboration skills and ability to work in a team to solve deep applied problems, especially in a professional domain like finance

Responsibilities

Lead the development of a Large Language Model (LLM)-first knowledge stack for investment professionals in equities, fixed income, high income, and direct lending at Fidelity Asset Management
Process documents of interest to analysts, such as analyst reports, earnings notes, spreadsheet models, prospectuses, loan indentures, news reports, and regulatory filings
Support deployment of personalized assistants for principals' information consumption, processing, and production tasks
Enable assistants to perform tasks including summarizing documents (from different points of view), answering questions about passages, extracting terms, comparing extracted information across time/deals, consolidating/restating agreements (with amendments), identifying trends, monitoring relevant world changes, generating plausible scenarios, analyzing/decomposing into factors, and generating reports
Ensure assistants are personalized, deliver high-quality results, and improve over time with increased interaction with principals and the world
