Requirements
- Knowledge of mechanical repair skills
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to read service and repair manuals
- Proficient with computer diagnostic equipment, hydraulics, and software
- Vocational/technical school program or apprenticeship in auto repair or related field required
- Two years of related experience
- Commercial driver’s license may be required (training provided if needed)
- Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and safety inspections
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times
Responsibilities
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on buses
- Repair or replace malfunctioning parts and systems (e.g., brake pads, belts, water pumps, transmissions)
- Conduct tests on specific parts and systems to ensure proper function
- Examine critical parts and systems using a standard checklist
- Identify mechanical issues visually or with computer diagnostic equipment
- Test drive vehicles to confirm safe and proper operation
- Plan and execute a timetable to complete repairs and maintenance
