Associates Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications or related Technical field or higher from an accredited college/university, or high school diploma and two years related military or electric utility technical experience
Six (6) years EMS/SCADA experience with associate's degree, or eight (8) years of experience with a high school diploma; individuals with a bachelor's degree and 4 years of EMS/SCADA experience may be considered
Detailed knowledge in three of the following areas: Application development, Operating System support, Computer system administration, Database technologies and support
Proven experience in installation, configuration, and management of SQL Server (including multiple instances on a single server/VM)
Expertise in performance tuning, index management, and SQL query optimization
Strong skills in TSQL and PowerShell
Nice to haves: Working experience with MongoDB and PostgreSQL; background in utility space, real-time applications, SCADA, and transmission/distribution systems

Monitor and maintain database health, performance, and security
Implement and manage database backup and recovery strategies
Ensure high availability and disaster recovery readiness
Manage user access and roles, ensuring compliance with data governance and security policies
Perform audits and vulnerability assessments to maintain security standards
Analyze and optimize SQL queries and overall database performance
Identify and resolve bottlenecks in database systems
Implement indexing, tuning strategies, and partitioning for performance gains
Resolve platform-related issues and participate in incident response
Coordinate with vendors for product-related issues, patches, and bug fixes
Work closely with application developers, system administrators, and business analysts to understand new requirements and recommend high-level direction and approach
Provide support for development, testing, and production environments
Develop scripts for monitoring, maintenance, and automation tasks
Utilize tools like shell scripting, Python, or Perl to automate processes
