Data Scientist
Ondo FinanceFull Time
Junior (1 to 2 years)
Candidates must possess an advanced degree in a quantitative discipline such as data sciences, statistics, biomedical informatics, computer science, or applied mathematics, or have equivalent practical experience. A minimum of two years of experience applying advanced machine learning and AI techniques, including supervised and unsupervised methods, LLMs, and NLP, to clinical data is required. Direct experience working with and curating real-world data, such as EHRs, including a deep understanding of the complexities of structured and unstructured clinical data, is essential. Strong proficiency in Python is also a requirement. Preferred qualifications include familiarity with medical terminologies and ontologies, software engineering practices, developing production software, working with clinical subject matter experts, and the ability to work cross-functionally with tolerance for ambiguity.
The Data Scientist will support the mission of driving innovation in evidence generation for research and care decisions by developing and deploying models for scalable curation of real-world data. This includes multi-source integrations and reconciliations, creating derived features from source data, and facilitating data quality assessments. The role involves working closely with cross-functional partners to design and create longitudinal datasets integrating multiple data sources, building and implementing highly accurate machine learning models and AI tools using sparsely labeled healthcare datasets, and implementing, building on, and augmenting existing LLM/NLP tools to maximize the value of unstructured medical data. The Data Scientist will also become an expert in the data's capabilities and limitations and solve difficult, non-routine analysis problems, handling data challenges from a real-world setting.
