Requirements

  • Experienced in data analytics, particularly designing, curating, communicating, and optimizing data models and data architecture for reporting and analytics
  • Comfortable supporting data needs of multiple teams, systems, and products (e.g., application experts, software developers, database architects, data engineers)
  • Ability to learn quickly, collaborate in small teams and broader groups, and contribute to common goals
  • Excited about optimizing or re-designing company data architecture
  • Knowledge of data modeling techniques including Star Schema/Snowflake Schema, relationship diagrams, metrics, measures, dimensions, data joins, aggregations, and calculations
  • Ability to analyze relationships between data fields and tables in Transactional and Analytical layers
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert for a specific business domain (e.g., Sales, Marketing, Broadband)
  • Familiarity with data governance (e.g., maintaining data catalogs, definitions, quality rules)
  • Skills in translating business requirements into technical requirements (e.g., access/security, frequency/latency, compliance/PII, Unity Catalog schema)
  • Proficiency in providing example queries, testing, validating, and documenting deliverables
  • Experience building visualizations, performing analysis with BI tools, and leveraging analytical methodologies

Responsibilities

  • Work with stakeholders (Executive, Product, Data, Design teams) to understand value drivers and data requirements from business and end users
  • Design and create data models meeting short- and long-term business needs in an agile environment
  • Create and define data models combining multiple data sources
  • Define data joins, aggregations, metrics, and calculations
  • Perform data modeling and relationship creation (e.g., diagrams, Star/Snowflake Schemas, metrics, measures, dimensions)
  • Collaborate with data professionals to improve functionality, discoverability, trustworthiness, and security of data
  • Collaborate on best practices and standards for Data Analysis
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert for a specific business domain
  • Analyze relationships between data fields and tables in Transactional and Analytical layers
  • Mentor and enable other Data Analysts
  • Work with Data Scientists to define advanced data needs and analysis
  • Handle some Data Governance responsibilities (e.g., data catalogs, definitions, quality rules)
  • Engage with Product Owner and stakeholders to understand, document, and define data and business logic
  • Translate data/business requirements to technical requirements for Data Engineers and Developers
  • Provide example queries and data examples for Data Engineers
  • Test, validate, and document deliverables
  • Build and maintain business-relevant metrics, measures, views
  • Build visualizations for communicating insights
  • Perform analysis using BI and other analytical tools/methodologies
  • Update, maintain, and manage business requirements and documents
