Walrus Protocol Overview

The Walrus Foundation supports the development, growth, and adoption of the Walrus protocol. Walrus, Mysten Labs’ second protocol after Sui, is a chain-agnostic, highly performant storage and data availability protocol designed to enable builders to store all data types at scale seamlessly. In partnership with Sui, Walrus extends capabilities, offering builders the first opportunity to ‘do more with their data.’ By representing data as an object, Walrus transcends archival storage, empowering builders to program data for purchase, trade, or versioning, opening avenues for customized experiences around data utilization in applications.

About the Role

We are seeking an impactful Content Strategist to own and articulate the Walrus narrative of ‘programmable storage’ and its significance to both builders and enthusiasts. This role will be instrumental in positioning Walrus, both in relation to and independently from Sui, highlighting the new capabilities Walrus unlocks for builders compared to traditional, archival web3 storage solutions like Filecoin and Arweave.

The focus will be on growing foundational content (e.g., blog posts, website copy) and exploring new content formats to effectively communicate what Walrus is, what it enables, and why it's game-changing. You will develop the content strategy for Walrus’ target audiences, shape ideas for future narratives, and manage the content calendar for coordination and execution. This position requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including product management, product marketing, growth, developer relations, communications, and other stakeholders, to develop content for Walrus and its products. You will play a key role in driving engagement across all of Sui’s owned and operated properties.

Responsibilities

Narrative Development

• Translate Walrus’ mission, technology, and long-term vision into a cohesive content strategy.
• Develop and refine messaging frameworks that articulate our point of view on programmable storage and Walrus’ connection to the broader Mysten Labs vision of reimagining the internet.
• Identify opportunities to connect Walrus with relevant macro narratives, such as data ownership.

Content Strategy & Production

• Lead editorial planning for Walrus content across blog posts, Twitter/X, Mirror, community updates, and occasional whitepapers.
• Write and edit original content, or guide contractors/agencies in its creation, including:
  • Digestible explainers
  • Developer-focused deep dives
  • Ecosystem highlights
  • Strategic threads and thought leadership pieces
• Collaborate with design and product teams to create visuals, diagrams, and multimedia storytelling assets.
