Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a closely related STEM field
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline preferred, but not required
  • Strong technical foundation across core college-level CS topics (e.g., algorithms, data structures, programming, databases, architecture)
  • Excellent written English and the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and concisely
  • Demonstrated experience in education, curriculum development, assessment writing, or related academic work is preferred
  • Ability to apply instructional best practices to create valid and pedagogically sound quiz questions
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and adherence to defined quality guidelines
  • Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and incorporate feedback constructively
  • Reliable availability to meet project timelines within a remote, flexible contractor schedule
  • 1–3 years of experience in Computer Science–related work, such as programming, software development, tutoring, teaching, or academic support (preferred)
  • Experience creating educational content, assessments, curriculum materials, or technical documentation is preferred
  • Prior work with college-level Computer Science concepts (e.g., through teaching, TA roles, industry experience, or advanced coursework) (preferred)
  • Experience collaborating with editors, reviewers, or team members in structured content workflows is a plus
  • Familiarity with assessment writing, instructional design, or test development best practices is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Review college-level Computer Science lesson content to fully understand the learning objectives, depth, and academic rigor
  • Write clear, accurate, and valid quiz questions aligned with Study.com’s current best practices and assessment guidelines
  • Ensure each question accurately reflects the lesson’s key concepts and can be answered solely using the provided lesson material
  • Develop strong, pedagogically sound distractors that reflect common misconceptions in undergraduate CS coursework
  • Revise and refine questions based on reviewer feedback while maintaining technical accuracy appropriate for college-level learners
  • Collaborate with reviewers and editors to ensure quizzes meet Study.com’s standards for rigor, alignment, and instructional quality
  • Apply consistent quality assurance checks, including accuracy, clarity, difficulty calibration, and adherence to stylistic and academic guidelines
  • Translate complex Computer Science topics—such as algorithms, data structures, programming paradigms, software engineering, computer architecture, and databases—into accessible, well-constructed assessment items
  • Maintain professional communication, follow a structured workflow, and meet production deadlines
