Position Overview

Thriveworks is seeking a Clinical Supervisor to provide clinical supervision to an assigned group of Resident Talk Therapists. These therapists provide diagnostic assessments, therapy, and counseling in an outpatient setting for a diverse caseload including adults, adolescents, children, couples, and families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clinical Supervision: Provide supervision to a minimum of six (6) resident clinicians.
  • Supervision Format: Conduct weekly group supervision.
  • Individual Supervision: Provide individual supervision to each resident clinician for every 15 clinical hours, equating to a minimum of 7 hours per week (this varies based on Resident caseload size).
  • Documentation Oversight: Willingness to provide documentation oversight.
  • Professional Development: Coach resident clinicians on their professional and clinical development.
  • Record Keeping: Complete weekly documentation as evidence of supervision sessions.
  • Performance Management: Complete coaching documentation regarding any disciplinary or performance concerns.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with the Regional Clinical Director regarding any performance issues.
  • Expectations: Perform duties as outlined in the Clinical Supervisor Expectations document.

  • Assertiveness: Ability to be appropriately assertive in coaching residents on professional and clinical goals.
  • Licensure: Active license in good standing and residing within the state in which supervision will be provided.
  • State Requirements: Meet state regulatory requirements for the provision of supervision, including maintaining required licenses and certifications necessary to provide supervision to license-in-process individuals. Prior approval by the state board for supervision is preferred.
  • Credentialing: Active credentialing with the required Incident-to panels within the state where supervision will be provided.
  • Thriveworks Tenure: Have been a Thriveworks Clinician for at least 3 months.

Supervisor Requirements for LPC and LISW-CP in SC

LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor):

An applicant for licensure as a professional counselor supervisor must:

  • Apply using forms approved by the Board, along with the required fee.
  • Hold a current, active, and unrestricted South Carolina Professional Counselor License.
  • Either:
    • (a) Hold a doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Supervision, OR
    • (b) Provide:
      • (i) Evidence acceptable to the Board of at least five (5) years of continuous clinical experience immediately preceding the application.
      • (ii) Evidence of a minimum of thirty-six (36) hours of individual/triadic supervision over no less than two years, by a Board-licensed professional counselor supervisor, of the applicant’s supervision of at least two (2) and no more than six (6) licensed professional counselor associates.
      • (iii) Evidence of a minimum of three (3) semester hours of graduate study in supervision oriented to their discipline or training approved by the Board.

LISW-CP (Licensed Independent Social Worker-Clinical Practice):

  • Be a Licensed Independent Social Worker-Clinical Practice.
  • Have successfully passed an examination prescribed by the board.
  • Have a minimum of four thousand five hundred hours of clinical practice earned over not less than three years beyond receipt of a LISW-CP.
  • Have obtained forty-five academic contact hours or forty-five continuing education contact hours in supervision.
