Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited College of Pharmacy with Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree or BS and comparable clinical experience
  • PGY-1 residency required; PGY-2 Emergency Medicine residency preferred
  • Active New Jersey pharmacy license

Responsibilities

  • Participates in patient rounds (or equivalent) with appropriate individuals including physicians, nurses and other health care providers
  • Evaluates medication prescribing patterns and identifies opportunities for improving drug therapy
  • Conducts Drug Use Evaluations
  • Provides education to patients/families, and other health care practitioners
  • Participates in medication safety initiatives
  • Works within key sub-specialty areas to develop and maintain specific routine monitoring criteria for these patients
  • Represents the Pharmacy Dept. in system wide and divisional committees as needed (e.g., Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee, Emergency Medicine Practice Council)
  • Provides pharmaceutical care according to professional standards and practices and complies with all Federal and State regulations
  • Collaborates with other specialties as needed
  • Serves as a resource for drug information
  • Develops guidelines and protocols
  • Provides education for pharmacy department and clinical departments as needed
  • Precepts pharmacy residents and pharmacy students
