High school diploma or GED preferred
Basic computer proficiency and functional knowledge with applications
Ability to read and write English
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
Ability to write simple correspondence
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations
Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Ability to work in a standing position up to 10 hours
Training in hazardous material handling and emergency procedures
Tolerance for manufacturing environment exposure to noise, dust, grime, heat, and requirement to wear appropriate personal protective equipment

Responsibilities

Know and follow general company and corporate policies and procedures
Know, understand, and follow department policies and procedures
Operate automatic and manual chemical process equipment of varying complexity in various production processes in accordance with operating procedures
Control heat-treating furnaces, baths, and quenching equipment to alter physical and chemical properties of metal objects using specifications and methods of controlled heating and cooling (e.g., hardening, tempering, annealing, casehardening, normalizing)
Place parts in racks, trays, or baskets and load objects into furnace via conveyor or directly
Determine temperature and time of heating cycle, type and temperature of baths and quenching medium using heat-treating charts and knowledge of methods, equipment, and metal properties
Adjust furnace controls and monitor pyrometer to achieve prescribed temperature
Load parts into furnace
Remove parts after prescribed time and quench in water, oil, brine, or other bath, or allow to cool in air
Perform quality control analyses to complete in-process batches and identify variations
Report to work on time, follow instructions from supervisor or management, interact well with co-workers, and understand/follow work rules and procedures
Perform other various duties as needed or assigned
