Medication Aide - SD Licensing Board - Active SD license within 120 days of hire
Ability to work PRN (at least 2 shifts every 6 weeks), including day, evening, night shifts, weekends, and holidays
Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties
Ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds
Knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform essential job functions satisfactorily

Responsibilities

Provides assistance to residents with activities of daily living (e.g., bathing, dressing, shaving, oral hygiene, bed making, transfers, repositioning, toileting, serving/collecting food trays, feeding, answering call lights)
Performs routine and non-routine duties as directed by nursing staff (e.g., transporting patients, assisting with ambulation, orienting/reorienting residents)
Documents concise and factual information on appropriate forms, including completed cares and reasons medications are not administered
Performs or assists with specific medical care activities (e.g., restorative exercises, collecting specimens, assessing/documenting cares) under established policy and procedure
Provides feedback to nursing staff on resident status changes, pain management, and concerns
Assists with restocking supplies, maintaining clean and safe work environment, and cleaning procedures
Participates in providing emotional and spiritual support for families
Complies with resident rights, including confidentiality, privacy, and reporting abuse or misappropriation
Follows policies on fire, tornado, evacuation, disaster plans, universal precautions, infection control, hazardous/chemical communication
Prepares, administers, and documents medication under supervision of a licensed nurse
