- 21+ years of age
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL) with a clean driving record
- Ability to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, understand highway traffic signs and signals
- Submit to a pre-employment background check and drug screen
- 1-2 years of route delivery experience (ideal)
Responsibilities
- Run daily routes with frequent stops efficiently, meeting or exceeding designated route times
- Load packages onto hand trucks and unload product at each stop on the assigned route in the order designated by the Transportation Department Manager
- Operate in a cross-dock model: pick up a loaded truck from a nightly delivery at the assigned loading dock and return the empty truck to the assigned lot at the end of the route
- Unload product from trailer by hand or using a hand cart, and place in designated customer storage areas (may include transporting down ramps, stairs, or docks in all weather conditions)
- Frequently lift, push, or move product weighing 1-75 pounds (up to 100 pounds), reach up to 72” to stack/unstack pallets and hand carts, constantly bend and twist while loading/unloading and retrieving items
- Verify delivery of items with customer, obtain proper signatures, contact management for invoice discrepancies, communicate all errors/returns
- Call in when a customer does not receive their entire order (shorts)
- Handle any customer complaints professionally
- Handle company equipment properly, follow written driver safety rules
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and responsibilities in accordance with DOT regulations and Sysco policies/procedures
- Occasionally assist with loading trucks, palletizing product, and other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Manager
