Breaking News Reporter - Weekend at The Daily Beast

The role is work from home but may change as the Beast expands operations. You must be based outside of the U.S. to apply, and you do not have to be based in Sydney.

A minimum of 3 years of experience in news reporting, preferably online, is required. Ideal candidates have a deep understanding of American culture, preferably having lived in the U.S. or worked for American publications.

Responsibilities include identifying and pitching stories, writing intelligent and exciting copy, collaborating with editors, producing clean and accurate breaking news copy, locating sources, conducting interviews, and being fluent across social media platforms.

You will be required to work Saturday and Sunday daytime hours in Australia, with starting times varying between 8 a.m.-11 a.m. AEST depending on the season, and flexibility may be required at times.

Strong candidates are experienced reporters with a taste for U.S. politics, global news, media, and pop culture, a deep understanding of American culture, and the ability to write with the Daily Beast’s dynamic tone. Finalists will undertake a copy and headline test.
