MA/MS in social work, counseling, or a related behavioral health field, or a degree in nursing
Minimum of 3 years of experience with facility-based and/or outpatient psychiatric and substance abuse or substance abuse disorder treatment (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Current active unrestricted license such as LCSW, LMSW, LMHC, LPC, LMFT, or Clinical Psychologist to practice as a health professional within the scope of licensure in applicable states or territory of the United States (licensure required; for states without licensure requirement, BCBA acceptable if performing only UM approvals for ABA services under licensed supervision)
Ability to work 3rd shift (e.g., 11PM–7AM EST), every other weekend (two 12-hour shifts 8AM–8PM Sat/Sun), holidays on rotating schedule, and 40 weekly hours
Location within reasonable commuting distance of Durham, NC or Winston-Salem, NC (virtual role except for required in-person training)

Responsibilities

Manage psychiatric and substance abuse or substance abuse disorder facility-based and outpatient professional treatment health benefits through telephonic or written review
Use appropriate screening criteria knowledge and clinical judgment to assess member needs, ensuring access to medically necessary quality behavioral healthcare in a cost-effective setting per UM Clinical Guidelines and contract
Refer cases to Peer Reviewers as appropriate
Perform psychiatric and substance abuse or substance abuse disorder assessment, coordination, implementation, case planning, monitoring, and evaluating to promote quality member outcomes, optimize health benefits, and promote effective use of health benefits and community resources

Is this position fully remote?

This role enables associates to work virtually full-time, with the exception of required in-person training sessions. Candidates must be within a reasonable commuting distance from Durham, NC or Winston Salem, NC.

What are the work hours and shift options for this role?

Work shift options include 4 AM - 12:30 PM (EST), 12:00 PM - 8:30 PM (EST), and 11PM – 7AM (EST), with every other weekend commitment of two 12-hour shifts from 8 AM to 8 PM on Saturday and Sunday. Team members are required to work on holidays as part of a rotating schedule, for 40 weekly hours.

What are the minimum education and experience requirements?
