Requirements

Full job knowledge of production-related systems and procedures obtained through prior work experience with Materials Auxiliary or education
Minimum of 2 years of experience
May require vocational or technical education or certification in addition to prior work experience
May require vocational training and/or certification
Ability to work under moderate supervision, with general supervision for routine work and detailed instructions for new activities
Knowledge of operating equipment and established operational procedures
Ability to perform intermediate activities requiring judgment and decision-making in manufacturing/production operations or distribution center
Ability to handle routine problems in current work processes and systems
Ability to communicate with internal contacts, obtaining and providing information requiring some explanation or interpretation
Physical ability to perform manual tasks such as packing/unpacking, lifting, verifying weights, etc

Responsibilities

Performs a combination of manual and clerical shipping and receiving duties, potentially in a central warehouse
Uses computer system for tracking, logging, verifying, and reporting
Follows shipping practices and procedures, transportation routing, schedules, and requirements
Receives incoming materials or prepares materials for shipment
Packs or unpacks items such as finished products, raw stock, assemblies, parts, building materials, office supplies, equipment, etc
Verifies quantity, weight, and conformance of materials to stated identifications
Logs receipt of items on system, processes freight bills, packing sheets, and other documents
Reports materials shipped and bills of lading; posts weight and shipping charges and routes merchandise to destinations
Provides support in manufacturing operations and/or distribution centers including assembly, machinery, processing, packaging, and/or distribution of company products
May set up and operate automatic or semiautomatic machines and related equipment in continuous production/processing operations
Reports any malfunctions or abnormalities in machines; may recommend or make adjustments to methods and processes
May be involved in shipping, receiving, inventory control, or storage of products in distribution centers
May provide guidance and assistance to new or entry-level employees
Other duties may be assigned
