An active special education license is required, along with practical experience working with diverse student populations. Knowledge of systematic phonics-based programs like Orton Gillingham or Wilson is preferred, as is hands-on experience tutoring in reading and writing. The candidate must be able to differentiate reading strategies, understand neuropsychological principles in education, and be an effective communicator with students, parents, and teachers. Tech-savviness and experience with tele-health services on virtual meeting platforms are necessary, as is a private workspace with reliable internet and a computer. Availability during traditional school hours (8:00 am-3:00 pm, Monday-Friday) with a minimum of 10 hours per week is ideal. Fluency in additional languages is a plus.

Responsibilities

The Specialized Education Teacher will provide remote special education support to students, including compensatory education services. They will develop and implement individualized lesson plans to improve reading and writing skills, create and manage IEPs, and provide case management services. Collaboration with families to schedule and tailor services, conducting screenings, progress monitoring, and outcomes assessments are key duties. The educator will also educate families on learning support strategies and maintain accurate session documentation in line with company policies.
