Requirements

  • Undergraduate pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis
  • Previous experience or formal training with AutoCAD
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Strong interpersonal skills and effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to ask questions and engage in discussions with team members and other internal contacts
  • Ability to travel locally as needed for project assignments, team meetings, site visits, etc
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Ability to complete and pass background, security, and drug test requests required by TKDA, clients, and state and/or federal agencies
  • Available to work 40 hours per week with occasional overtime from mid-May through mid-August 2026, primarily from the Bloomington, Minnesota office

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplined team of architecture and engineering professionals to provide services for Class I, short line, and passenger railroads
  • Engage in the full life cycle of structural projects including industrial and maintenance facilities, locomotive fueling stations, bulk handling structures, and administration buildings, from schematic design through construction
  • Conduct site assessments
  • Prepare design calculations
  • Develop construction cost estimates
  • Contribute to the development of preliminary and final designs using AutoCAD and other design applications
