Requirements

Undergraduate pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis
Previous experience or formal training with AutoCAD
Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
Strong interpersonal skills and effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to ask questions and engage in discussions with team members and other internal contacts
Ability to travel locally as needed for project assignments, team meetings, site visits, etc
Legally authorized to work in the United States
Ability to complete and pass background, security, and drug test requests required by TKDA, clients, and state and/or federal agencies
Available to work 40 hours per week with occasional overtime from mid-May through mid-August 2026, primarily from the Bloomington, Minnesota office

Responsibilities

Collaborate with a multi-disciplined team of architecture and engineering professionals to provide services for Class I, short line, and passenger railroads
Engage in the full life cycle of structural projects including industrial and maintenance facilities, locomotive fueling stations, bulk handling structures, and administration buildings, from schematic design through construction
Conduct site assessments
Prepare design calculations
Develop construction cost estimates
Contribute to the development of preliminary and final designs using AutoCAD and other design applications
