Requirements

  • Practical experience designing, implementing, and monitoring operational risk controls within fast-paced or high-volume environments
  • Strong understanding of risk frameworks, internal controls, and delivering on compliance requirements (FIN, SOX, etc.)
  • Confidence to influence, challenge, and collaborate with stakeholders from across Treasury, Product, Operations, and Engineering
  • Commercial acumen: ability to balance risk with speed and innovation
  • Passion for problem-solving and delivering change with a proactive, solution-focused mindset
  • Prior experience in Treasury, Finance, or regulated environments is a plus but not essential; curiosity and willingness to learn

Responsibilities

  • Design and build the Treasury operational risk framework to identify, measure, and report on operational risk
  • Coordinate the design and implementation of effective internal first line controls within Treasury operations, spanning money movement, FX execution, and engineering teams
  • Identify, measure, and report on operational risks, developing Key Risk Indicators and dashboards for Wise leadership
  • Deliver process improvements, coordinate implementation and testing of business continuity plans, and embed risk management and effective control environments
  • Partner with engineers and product leaders to streamline processes and support new financial product launches, advising on risk appetite
  • Act as a trusted advisor to Treasury and Product teams as part of 1LoD, supporting new product launches and designing reporting capabilities
  • Work closely with operations team to ensure scalable operating environment for product plans
  • Chair the Treasury Operational Risk Committee, driving discussions, shaping risk culture, and ensuring resilience and compliance
  • Support regulatory submissions and critical audits during transition to SOX compliance and public markets
