Requirements

Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, along with extensive experience in designing and implementing network protocols and distributed systems. Proficiency in lower-level programming languages like Rust, C++, or Java is essential, as is familiarity with systems and networking technologies such as TCP/IP, HTTP, gRPC, libp2p, Kafka, Kubernetes, Docker, and Elasticsearch. Hands-on experience with peer-to-peer networking, client-server protocol development, and real-time communication systems is preferred. Strong independent work ethic, excellent communication skills, flexibility with global time zones, and a passion for solving complex network and protocol challenges are also required.

Responsibilities

The Staff Software Engineer will architect and build highly scalable, reliable, and data-heavy distributed systems, integrating various data sources. They will build and maintain production-grade systems from conception to deployment, and research, design, and productionize proprietary network and blockchain protocols, focusing on communication layers. Responsibilities include designing and optimizing protocol behaviors for distributed environments, resolving technical challenges across the full stack, mentoring team members, participating in code and design reviews, and collaborating cross-functionally to define and implement services. The role also involves driving innovation in areas like p2p networking, libp2p, block propagation, chain re-org detection, and network observability.
