Software Engineer - Retirement Solutions Technology

Position Overview

Nationwide's Information Technology team is seeking a talented Software Engineer to join the Retirement Solutions Technology team. This role focuses on developing and maintaining the RSC and DCdirect/RPLink applications. Key Responsibilities

• Analyze, solution, develop, test, debug, document, and deploy software according to standards in an agile environment.
• Apply secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.
• Utilize DevSecOps practices, tooling, and techniques.
• Drive continuous improvement and learning through ongoing training, practice, and innovation.
• Proactively manage medium to large project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
• May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

• Experience:
  • Four or more years of analysis and technology experience.
  • Full-stack development experience building Angular web applications and Java server applications.
  • Experience with AWS cloud technologies.
  • Experience using GitHub Version Control.
  • Experience working in an Agile team and possess DevSecOps knowledge.
  • Experience building automated tests using Cypress is a plus.
• Skills & Knowledge:
  • Proficiency in modern web technologies, APIs, and Java.
  • Proficiency in Java, JavaScript, Typescript, Angular, RESTful API, Apigee, and SQL.
  • Expertise in cloud-native platforms and secure coding practices.
  • Strong knowledge of the software development lifecycle.
  • Proven ability to tackle complex business and development problems.
  • Ability to thrive in a team environment.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills are critical.
  • Insurance/financial services industry experience is a plus.

Education

• Completion of undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or other related degree.
• Technology experience or non-traditional technology certificates can be substituted for an undergraduate degree.

Reporting Relationships

• Reports to a Technology Manager/Director.
