Candidates must possess a minimum of one year of documented professional experience working with individuals from birth to five years old who have developmental delays and disabilities. A Bachelor's degree in early childhood education and/or special education is required, along with NJ Dept. of Education Certification as a Teacher of Students with Disabilities. Additional required coursework includes infant and toddler or early childhood development, and CPR certification. A valid driver's license may also be necessary.
The Special Education Teacher will conduct comprehensive child development evaluations, determine goals, and develop plans of treatment. They will administer developmental intervention programming, evaluating the effectiveness of interventions and modifying plans as needed. Responsibilities also include consulting with medical and ancillary professionals, communicating effectively with families to provide education and strategies, and maintaining timely and accurate documentation of evaluations, child records, and reports in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
