Candidates need a Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred), 10–20 years of experience in structural/bridge design, a Professional Engineer (PE) license in Maryland (or ability to obtain), proficiency in structural design for steel, reinforced concrete, and prestressed concrete, experience with AASHTO LRFD standards, and Maryland DOT experience strongly preferred. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills are also required.
The role involves directing and mentoring design engineers and CAD/drafting staff, collaborating with subconsultants and internal teams, and working in a collaborative environment while managing multiple assignments.
Ideal candidates have a strong technical background in structural design, proven leadership ability, experience with transportation agencies like Maryland DOT, and the ability to clearly present technical solutions to clients.
