Requirements

4+ years of experience designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale using languages like Python or Kotlin. Experience building highly available distributed systems with AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes. Demonstrated ability to define a technical plan for delivering a significant feature or system component with an elegant, simple, and extensible design. Track record of writing high quality code that is easily understood and reused by others. Proven ability to make significant changes in a large code base and develop tools and practices to do so safely. Strong ownership mindset with proactive feedback-seeking from teammates, managers, and stakeholders. Excellent verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with a global engineering team. Equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Responsibilities

Own and deliver quarterly goals for the team and lead engineers through ambiguity to solve open-ended problems while ensuring teammates are supported. Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics to ideate, articulate technical constraints, and make risk-aware trade-off decisions. Proactively identify, advocate for, and solve project, process, technology, or business issues. Support operations and availability of the team’s artifacts by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating when needed, and contributing to on-call efforts. Foster a culture of quality and ownership by setting or improving code review and design standards and promoting them beyond the team through writing and tech talks. Help develop team members by providing feedback and leading by example.
