Thermal-Hydraulics Engineer
OkloFull Time
Mid-level (3 to 4 years), Senior (5 to 8 years)
Candidates must possess a B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Thermal Sciences, or a related field, coupled with at least 5 years of experience in battery thermal analysis, ideally within the aerospace, automotive, or energy sectors. Experience with battery systems, electric powertrains, or aerospace electrification industries is required, along with hands-on proficiency in thermal modeling and simulation tools like ANSYS Fluent, COMSOL, STAR-CCM+, MATLAB, or GT-SUITE.
The Senior Battery Thermal Analyst will conduct detailed thermal analysis and simulations for battery cells, modules, and packs under various operating conditions. They will develop and optimize thermal models using CFD, FEA, and multi-physics tools, and design/execute thermal validation tests to correlate simulations with real-world performance. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to define and validate thermal management solutions, performing thermal runaway modeling and safety assessments, and supporting certification efforts to ensure compliance with aviation safety standards.
Develops autonomous electric air taxis
Wisk Aero develops autonomous electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft aimed at transforming urban transportation by introducing air taxis. Their eVTOL aircraft, such as Wisk and Cora, are designed to be safe, sustainable, and accessible, meeting high aviation safety standards. Wisk Aero differentiates itself from competitors by focusing on both the manufacturing of these aircraft and providing air taxi services directly to consumers, as well as partnering with cities and businesses to enhance urban mobility solutions. The company's goal is to address inefficiencies in current transit systems, making air travel a practical option for everyday transportation.
