Requirements

  • 0 - 3 years of engineering experience preferred
  • Willingness / ability to travel to TRAM Group plant and customer sites

Responsibilities

  • Act as design liaison between TRAM, customer and Japan HQ Design department, assisting in negotiations of designs and ensuring customer expectations are met
  • Support internal and external Design Engineering departments through coordination of adherence to customer wants/needs & strategy, scheduling & status reports, upcoming design announcements, development status (testing, problems, tooling), explanation of design/manufacturing/ECI/ECR details, drawing approvals/changes/updates, review of design processes, transportation of CAD and sample products, communication of expectations/milestones/testing needs, and negotiation of design direction within capabilities
  • Estimate price, timing and feasibility of prototypes and sample parts for the customer
  • Perform problem solution activities, including creating counter-measure ideas, Problem & Counter-measure sheets, Schedule sheets and ECRs
  • Participate in DR and DRBFM meetings
  • Participate in vehicle checks at customer location during design and start of production phases, including identifying design flaws/issues at assembly plant, assisting suppliers with difficulties meeting TRJ design expectations, resolving flaws/issues directly or elevating to proper departments, investigating field issues and reviewing counter-measures with TRJ and customer, and coordinating with TRAM Quality dept to ensure parts performance post-production with evidence/data for warranty problems
  • Support TRAM Group manufacturing site by attending Product Development Team (PDT) meetings, leading design explanations and informing on customer expectations, keeping production site updated on upcoming ECIs requiring close monitoring, supplying CAD/drawings/reports of possible failures on new designs, observing/assisting suppliers with production expectations, and helping resolve design flaws/assembly difficulties with counter-measures
  • Support TRAM departments (Sales, Quality, PM, etc.) on design process by updating on ECI implementation dates, working effectively in PDT with assigned deliverables, ensuring prototype orders of correct spec are delivered to customer, researching current pricing for accurate estimates, investigating returned parts for design/manufacturing issues, preparing RFQs including concept drawings, preparing/performing presentations to internal/external departments, coordinating with suppliers on investigating new local candidates, supporting development/preparation/problem resolution, and communicating design issues with counter-measure ideas to TRJ Design
