High School or GED Equivalent (Preferred)
Phlebotomy Technician (PBT) - American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) (Preferred)
Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties
Ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds
Ability to work evening shift: Monday to Friday from 5pm to 9pm (no weekends or holidays)

Responsibilities

Performs venipuncture and capillary blood collection following approved techniques and policies for hospital inpatients and clinic outpatients
Organizes specimen collection requests
Performs patient clinical laboratory specimen collection procedures
Handles specimen transport, specimen processing, testing dispersal, and other pre-analytic functions following established standards
Collects blood and other specimens in a competent manner to avoid repeat collections or valid complaints
Properly identifies patients before specimen collection and explains procedures, providing necessary preparation and collection instructions
Completes patient registration and test order computer data entry as required
Labels, transports, or stores collected specimens accurately and timely
Communicates professionally and efficiently with internal and external customers via telephone, pager, or in person
Interprets inpatient and outpatient test orders to determine appropriate collection time and specimen types
Performs selected point-of-care testing according to established standards and procedures
Assists with analysis, collection, and maintenance of records as required by regulatory agencies and/or federal, state, or local law
