Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent, or 1-3 months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds
  • Ability to work Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, PRN (as needed)

Responsibilities

  • Welcome patients, check them in, and complete registration, including verifying demographics, insurance, and collecting service payments
  • Perform insurance verifications, authorizations, and obtain consent and waiver forms as appropriate
  • Scan all pertinent information into the patient’s record
  • Answer and address calls, messages, and/or faxes, routing them to appropriate individuals/departments if needed
  • Maintain computer appointment scheduling and follow office scheduling policies/parameters
  • Expedite delivery of care by coordinating nurse, physician, and patient time
  • Act as public relations agent for physicians by serving patients in a friendly, efficient manner
  • Direct patients to ancillary services as needed
  • Promote Avera’s values of compassion, hospitality, and stewardship
