Requirements
- Valid CDL with at least 2 years' occupational driving experience
- Airbrake endorsement
- Up-to-date medical card
- Over the age of 21
- Available for overnight routes including overnight hotel stays Monday - Thursday
- Ability to lift 50 lbs., bend, stretch and twist
- Clean driving record (no DUIs and no more than 1 point on driving record)
- Ability to pass pre-employment background check
- Ability to communicate in a timely and professional manner with dispatch and warehouse teams
Responsibilities
- Drive routes to and from Rochester hub to receive product from brands while supporting overnight hauls to other NY locations
- Demonstrate outstanding problem-solving and time management abilities
- Help maintain fleet vehicles by keeping them clean, ensuring they are empty and secure when returned, and flagging potential maintenance issues to Fleet Management
- Perform regular safety inspections of equipment in keeping with company SOPs and OSHA standards
- Follow and maintain loading protocols, using chains and binders to secure cargo and re-checking stability throughout trips
- Inspect trailers before and after loading, paying attention to status of air lines and jack positions and adjusting as necessary
- Visit weigh stations before and after packing to ensure loads meet state safety regulations, making alterations when required by law
- Assist in unloading cargo when delivery sites are understaffed, maintaining product quality throughout conveyance
- Adhere to traffic safety regulations, exercise caution in treacherous circumstances, and report unsafe vehicle or road conditions to supervisors and highway authorities
- Use GPS to stay informed of route information, and communicate with supervisors and colleagues using CB radio and cab computer
- Communicate professionally with warehouses, including notifying loaders by phone if late for a scheduled drop-off or pickup
