Requirements

Licensed and qualified Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner to practice in the state based on job assignment (Upon Hire)
Federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) - US Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration, state and federal based on state of practice (Upon Hire)
Certified Physician Assistant - National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) (Upon Hire)
Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties
Ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds
Ability to work primarily days with night, weekend, and holiday on-call involvement
Ability to work Monday-Thursday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm and Friday 8:00 am - 1:00 pm (72 hours every 2 weeks), with occasional weekends, holidays, and call (rotating among APP group)

Responsibilities

Serves as first assist in OR
Demonstrates expertise as practitioner, consultant, educator, and health professional
Improves clinical and cost outcomes for key patient populations through collaboration with physicians and staff and participation in strategic initiatives
Assures competent and ethical care of patients and families
Shares responsibilities with supervising physician and clinic staff for customer-focused, nursing, and medically appropriate patient assessment, care plan development and implementation, follow-up to outcomes, and cost-effective delivery of services
Engages in community involvement and collaboration (encouraged)
Assesses, diagnoses, and treats patients according to medical staff approved protocol and acceptable standards of practice
Provides medical services and health education to patients and family members; contributes to health education of individuals and groups to increase motivation for self-care
Consults and collaborates with physician when assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients
Performs necessary diagnostic and therapeutic procedures according to written, approved protocols and appropriate licensing and administrative authorities
Interprets information from diagnostic process and consults with physician regarding abnormal findings to establish plan of care
Assures appropriate referrals for patients
Provides quality care, demonstrates appropriate health, safety, and aseptic practices; recognizes and reacts to environmental safety factors
Provides patient instruction related to environment of care and safety standards
Contributes to development and attainment of physician practice goals
Practices according to written, approved protocols and appropriate licensing and administrative authorities; understands, applies, and supports practice policies, procedures, goals, and standards
Maintains patient records and accurate information
