Position Overview

Wilcore is seeking a talented Mobile Engineer to join our team and help manage, expand, and oversee our rapidly growing portfolio of federal contracts. We are passionate about building quality software for the federal space, improving the daily lives of millions of people, and fostering a culture of learning, growth, and impact.


What You'll Be Doing

  • Developing and maintaining mobile-first, user-centered features for the My HealtheVet platform, enabling Veterans to securely access and manage their healthcare information on the go.
  • Working within a modern React Native environment and VA.gov’s design system.
  • Collaborating closely with UX designers, product managers, and API developers to deliver performant, accessible, and secure mobile experiences.

What You'll Bring

  • 3+ years of experience building mobile applications using React Native, iOS/Swift, or Android/Kotlin in production environments.
  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and modern front-end practices.
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs, mobile state management (e.g., Redux or Context), and performance optimization.
  • Familiarity with Firebase monitoring and remote configuration tools.
  • Understanding of WCAG 2.1 / Section 508 accessibility standards.
  • Experience building and maintaining secure applications in compliance with HIPAA or federal security guidelines.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, Git workflows, and agile methodologies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with designers, product managers, and backend engineers.
  • A consultant mindset that keeps the needs of the client and users at the forefront of all decisions.
  • Experience working in Agile development environments.
  • Capable of taking direction from senior leadership and translating into concrete next steps and actions.

Bonus Points

  • Experience working with Veteran-facing applications or federal digital services.
  • Familiarity with VA.gov design system, GraphQL, or mobile app deployment via App Store / Google Play.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen and able to work domestically.
  • Must be able to attain a low-level security clearance.
